Notifications
Who can use this feature?

Notifications will let you know when someone enters or wants to enter your room, and can be set up on your computer, iOS or Android device. For computers and Android devices, notifications are run directly through the browser. For iOS devices, notifications are managed in the app. Use notifications to make sure you never miss a visitor again!
Enable Notifications

- Join a room on your account (For Business Users this will be your personal room)

- Click on the Settings gear icon in the upper-right corner of the room.

- Choose Notifications .

- Toggle the Notification switch to be on.

- Click Allow in the browser pop up to enable Notifications.

Once you allow notifications you will be notified whenever a user knocks or enters your room. You will need to have your browser open to receive the notifications, and you will only receive them if you are not actively in the room.
Note
We do not send notifications if you have your Whereby room open in an active browser tab. We do this because we don't want to interrupt a meeting in progress, so we assume the room is in use if the tab is active and you will see people's knock notifications there.
Edit Notification Settings
If you do not receive a prompt to allow notifications when you enter a room that you own. It may be that you have already dismissed or blocked notifications on your device. To check this, follow the steps below for your device type:
Chrome & Chromium Browsers

- Navigate to your browser's settings page (you can type in chrome://settings/content/notifications in your URL bar).

If Whereby is under the Block section switch it to Allow.
Brave

Navigate to your the privacy section of your browser's settings page (you can enter brave://settings/privacy in your URL bar).

Enable "Use Google Services for Push Messaging".
Firefox

Navigate to your browser's settings page (you can type in about:preferences#privacy in your URL bar).

Scroll down to the Permissions section and click the Settings button next to Notifications.

If Whereby is under the Block section switch it to Allow and click Save Changes.
Enable Notifications
The first time you log in to your account on iOS, you'll automatically be prompted to allow notifications

- Open the Whereby app, and log in to your account

- When prompted, tap Enable notifications
Edit Notification Settings
If you weren't prompted to enable notifications when you logged in, it's possible that notifications have already been blocked and need to be re-enabled

- Start on the homescreen of the app, and tap on your profile icon in the top right corner

- Tap on the Enable notifications in Settings

- Tap on the notifications option in your device settings, and toggle the switch to Allow Notifications

- Tap on the three dots icon in the upper-right corner of the room, then tap on Settings

- Click the back arrow and navigate to Notifications tab

- Toggle the Notification switch to be on

- Tap Allow in the browser pop up to enable Notifications
Once you allow notifications your browser will notify you whenever a user knocks or enters your room.
Edit Notification Settings
If you weren't prompted to enable notifications when you logged in, or if notifications are enabled in the room but still not working, it's possible that they were blocked in Chrome and need to be re-enabled

- Open Chrome on your phone, and tap on the Three dot menu in the top right corner, and tap Settings

- Scroll down and tap on the Site Settings option

- Tap on Notifications

- If you have a Blocked list, expand it to see if Whereby is listed. If so, tap on that entry

- Tap on Notifications, and toggle the switch to allow them
